Golf Outing


On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club and the Osterhout Free Library, you are invited to participate in Charities Golf Tournament held on Friday, may 19, 2006. The event begins with lunch at 12:00 noon and is followed by a putting contests as well as other activities geared to set the right tone for a great tournament. The gun shot start of 18 holes golf tournament will be at 1 pm. with captain and crew format. Please check out registration information for details.

ATTENTION TEACHERS February is Black History Month

Celebrate the Black History Month with NoveList, an online database accessible through POWER Library from Osterhout Free Library home page. A list of over 600 African-American authors for adult, children and young adult readers is accessible from the February 2006 home page of NoveList. Readers who are interested in learning more about African-American experiences can search the database using following subject headings :

African-American women detectives
African-American families
African-American men/women relationship etc.

To find a book that contain African-American characters, readers can search for these subject headings using 'Describe A Plot, Guided Boolean or Freehand Boolean and find books that contain African-American characters.

Teachers looking for literature-related activities for Black History Month might want to consult the 'Teaching with Fiction' section of the School Resources tab (from NoveList K-8) for ideas.
